This world premiere takes an hilarious Gen-X look at dating and marriage and ultimately discovers what keeps couples of all generations together and in love. In contrast to the all-too-frequent portrayals of dysfunctional marriages, this two-person play is a fetching, honest revelation of the intricacies and intimacies that comprise the ebbs and flows of real relationships. In the course of one evening, a contemplative young man recounts his romantic history and eventual choice of a lifelong partner, while his wife gently ponders the same memories in the next room. The comical he-said/she-said monologues provide a charming split-screen approach that plays with time and people’s preconceptions. Going With Jenny marks the Wards’ return to the Atlanta stage since the popular Keeping Watch, which received Creative Loafing’s 2006 “Critic’s Pick for Best All-Around Play.” Recommended for audience 16 and above, for adult content.
*Recommended for age 16 and above, for adult themes and language.

Kate Campbell, a recording artist whose songs “tap into the Southern literary bloodline of Flannery O’Connor and William Faulkner” and who frequently records with the legendary Spooner Oldham at the hallowed Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, is a frequent guest at Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, GA, and has a large Atlanta fan base; she last performed at Theatrical Outfit as part of the April fundraising gala, ATLexis2008.
Kate Campbell released her debut album Songs from the Levee in 1995, beginning a tradition of songwriting and performance that taps into her Alabama upbringing and an ongoing love affair with the musical traditions and folkways of her native South. Her latest collection For the Living of These Days reflects her abiding fascination with storytelling, race, religion, history and the day-to-day happenings of people’s lives. Her other albums include Moonpie Dreams (1997), Visions of Plenty (1998), Rosaryville (1999), Wandering Strange (2001) and Monuments (2003). When choosing the songs for the albums, Kate relies on her favorite materials: her parents’ small but vital record collection, the Baptist hymnal, classic folk, soul and country music, and the pens of Alabama’s finest songwriters.

It’s almost time for Theatrical Outfit’s annual gala event, ATLexis2009. Last year’s inaugural fundraiser was a sell-out, so reserve your tickets now!
